Recently BJP MLA had demanded the ban on release Padmavati amid mounting protests against the Rs 150-crore movie mired in controversy over the depiction of a legendary Hindu queen.
BJP Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh asked for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to boycott the screening of the motion picture Padmavati till the producer rolls out the required improvements. In a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao , Mr Singh said the film “hurt the emotions of Hindus by controlling history of Rani Padmavati ji .
He said Rajasthan, MP and UP had restricted the motion picture. Addressing this daily paper, Mr Singh said that the film hurt the sentiments of more than 15 lakh Rajputs in the state other than crores of Hindus.
Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had discharged promotions and promos of the motion picture indicating Rani Padmavati moving out in the public , which had never happenned. He said the song groupings with the character of Allauddin Khilji was ridiculous and can’t be permitted by the Rajput people group.
Mr Singh attempted to take out a parade to the collector’s office in Abids that was avoided by the police. The raging debate on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati is not about the content of the movie.
Those who protest against the film’s release don’t know anything about the script of the film or the way the movie was planned by its makers or even how the lead actors — Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh — were going to play their respective roles of Padmavati, Maharana Raval Ratan Singh and Alauddin Khilji when the team originally landed in Jaipur for the shoot. What subsequently happened is now history.
