Men’s Hockey team created a historic maiden final appearance in 36th Hero champions Trophy against Australia after Great Britain held Belgium to a 3-3 draw in the final round Robin match in London on Thursday night.
This is India’s first appearence in the summit clash since the inception of the Blue riband six Nation tournament in 1978. India’s only podium finish was a bronze in 1982 at Amsterdam. It is the best ever performance in the event.
Indian Hockey players are assured of atleast a silver after the final. India assumes the Great Britain who rallied from a two goal deficit to hold Beligium in a cliff hanger at the Lee Valley Hockey centre after India lost 2-4 to title favourites Australia in their last round encounter.
