Bonded labour rescued in Tamilnadu

328 bonded labourers including 106 childred were rescued in Tamilnadu. The labourers were from Odisha and were made to work 12 hours per day  at Rs 20/-.

The authorities rescued the bonded labourers from a brick kiln in Thriruvallur district in Tamilnadu. The raid was conducted by district administration officials on Saturday. 

According to the bonded labourer, the labourers were brought to Tamilnadu promising a salary of Rs 400/- per day, but they were paid only Rs20/- and made to work for 12 hours and were not allowed to access food and basic needs. Most of the children were below the age of 15. A case was registered. against the owner of the brick kiln, who was charged of bonded labour. The owner absconded to avoid arrest.
