The one member commission of  Retd justice AK Roopanwal has said that there was no proper evidence to prove Rohith Vemula social status ‘Mala’ as his mother failed to provide proper details.

The commission has given clean chit to the ministers, Smriti Irani and Bandaru dattatreya who allegedly involved in Rohith Vemula suicide death. Justice Roopanwala commission has submitted its report to to HRD ministry. The report also found no involvement of the central university authorities and professors in the consequences that led to suicide of a young graduate. Roopanwal closed his report by citing ‘personal frustrations’ as the prime reason for Rohith Vemula’s self-hanging in his campus room on 17 January 2016.

However, Radikas foster mother, Anjani Devi, had given enough indication that her daughter knew of her Dalit identity. The family of Rohit Vemula said that one member commission has missed the judicial probe. On the other hand the Join Action Committee for Social Justice at UoH said that they will hold a protest rally over the report of Justice Roopanwal Commission, which missed the proper probe in the case.
