PM Narendra Modi greets nation on the beginning of ‘Navratri’ festival

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday morning greeted nation on the beginning of the auspicious nine-day ‘Navratri’ festival.In his message to the countrymen, the Prime Minister said, “As the auspicious festival of Navratri begins, I convey my warm greetings to everyone. We bow to Maa Jagdamba and seek her blessings. May Maa Jagdamba enrich our lives with strength, well-being, good health and may she keep inspiring us to serve the poorest of the poor.”

The nine-day ‘Navratri’ festival is dedicated to the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga has begun from today.The Prime Minister, who will begin his US visit today, will continue his four-decade-old practice of observing the nine-day rituals of fasting during the ‘Navratri’. During this nine-day of fast, Modi will only be drinking water and will do yoga, meditation and puja at dusk.The festival is celebrated with immense zeal and enthusiasm all over the country.This year, the ‘Navratri’ festival will be celebrated from September 25 to October 3. The festival falls in lunar month Ashwin during Sharad Ritu. ‘Ashwin’ is the seventh month of the lunisolar Hindu calendar.
