Major setback to Naidu’s government in AP

In a major setback to Mr. N.Chandrababu Naidu led Telugu Desam government in Andhra Pradesh. The High Court on Friday set aside the appointment of Karem Sivaji as the Chairmen of the State SC, ST Commission on arbitrariness grounds.

Earlier, the petitioners challenged the appointment of Karem Sivaji as Chairman of the SC ST Commission in the state.  The petitioner brought into the notice of high court that AP State government has appointed him without any public notification which is against the Constitutional right to citizens for equality in opportunities. Admitting the argument, the court suggested to the government should make important appointments only after notifying to the public and inviting all the qualified persons for the position. The HC kept aside the appointment, the court also refused to allow any appeal in the case as it was already heard for a prolonged period. While Sivaji belongs to Mala community and is also Mala Mahanadu president, the appointment was challenged by other groups in SC and ST.
