The Kohinoor diamond was neither cut nor polished in those days when the art of lapidary was not developed in the Kakathiya rule. Then it was a raw diamond. The art of cutting and polishing of diamonds developed only in the 16th centuary. The QutubShahis had nothing to do with the Kohinoor diamond.

It is said that the diamond was presented to the Mughal emperor Shajahan. If this is true, the diamond  would have been cut and shaped and polished as Golkonda was famous in cutting diamonds. At present the diamond is in England to be brought to India as it belonged to Andhra pradesh where the diamond is found in Rayalseema region.

In order to get millitary help Shahsushuja exchanged the diamond with Ranjith singh. After his death, the diamond had passed into the hands of the East India company. Now a case is being heard by Supreme Court of India for bringing back the diamond to India.
