The farmers who cultivated tomatoes are facing severe losses and are helpless even after working hard. Not knowing what to do with their produce, farmers have uploaded the videos of their produce in social media.
After learning about this, The American Telugu Association for Farmers (ATAFF) has come forward to help the suffering farmers to a feasible exten.
“We hope to provide a fair prize to the farmers who are in dire need. We threw tomato challenges at each other, to begin with. Many accepted this challenge and came forward to help the cause.
We distributed the tomatoes to the needy with the help of locals. Total benifited farmers – 200. Chittoor district farmers -Tambalapalli mandal, kotthakota mandal Vinjamuru farmers of Nellore district Mango farmers of Pulivendula. We have also purchased various vegetables like tomatoes, onions, carrots, cabbages, brinjals, green chillies and fruits like mangoes and oranges from Giddaluru of Prakasam district”, the representatives of ATAFF said.
A total of 250 tonnes was purchased and distributed them among 60,000 needy and each person got 4kgs of vegetables.
