BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar who was allegedly attacked by police officer in Karimnagar said he will move privilege motion against the officer. The incident occurred on Friday when Bandi Sanjay Kumar participated in the rally where the body of a TSRTC driver, who died of a heart attack, was being laid to rest in Karimnagar. However, Police rejected the claim.
“Union government is observing brutality of Karimnagar police. Home Minister of state Kishan Reddy and BJP state president Dr Laxman are focusing on the incident.” Bandi Sanjay said. He added, “Police attacked us on the direction of Chief Minister’s Office. Police who were in civil dress attacked us. While Babu’s funeral took place, there was no power. Even the freezer of the dead body was stopped due to power cut.”
The BJP released a statement saying, “BJP strongly condemns the high-handedness of the senior police officials in dealing with Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay who was participating in a peaceful march mourning the death of an RTC employee.” More than 48,000 TSRTC employees are on strike since October 5 to press for their demands including the demand for merger of TSRTC with the government.
