As per the reports the Chief Election Commissioner of India Om Prakash Rawat has announced the date of elections in Telangana. After assessing, OP Rawat said the final electoral roll for Telangana state will be published on 12th October against its initial plan of 8th October.
Citing the High Court’s direction that Telangana rolls should be shown to it first, the EC is expected to submit the final electoral roll to the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad first. While the elections of Telangana and Rajasthan are going to be held in single-phase on 7th December, the counting of all 5 states will happen on 11th December 2018.
OP Rawat, has also announced the date of elections for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. He said all necessary arrangements have been made. He said latest VVPAT machines will be used for the coming elections. The VVPAT slips to be counted for one polling station in each assembly constituency.
He also said the Election Commission has made changes to affidavit to be filed by candidates with their nomination papers, so as to implement SC order asking them to advertise their criminal incidents. Changes suggested to Law ministry in affidavits of candidates to adhere to SC order in decriminalization of politics. That will be implemented, said CEC OP Rawat.
