Telangana minister K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will break the record of the late Jyoti Basu who was Chief Minister for West Bengal for almost 25 years.
The inevitable has happened. Bringing the curtains down on months of suspense, senior Telugu Desam leader and Bhupalpally district president Gandra Satyanarayana Rao has decided to join the ruling TRS.
Mr Rama Rao was talking at Telangana Bhavan in the wake of conceding Bhupalpally region TD president Gandra Satyanarayana Rao into the party within the sight of ministers Kadiam Srihari and Etala Rajender.
Proclaiming that the TD had stopped to exist in the composite Warangal and Karimnagar regions, Mr Rama Rao said the late N.T. Rama Rao had drifted the Telugu Desam as an against Congress party , and Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had begun the TRS for Telangana, statehood.
The motivation behind TD had been served and it would be transferred to history. In his resignation letter to TD president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Satyanarayana Rao communicated his discontent over how the Telugu Desam party had treated him since his participating in 1983 .
Despite the fact that he conveyed the Telugu Desam party banner for over 30 years, he was disregarded in the 2014 general elections , he said.  For the last several weeks, the speculation was rife that Satyanarayana Rao was on the radar of both the ruling party and the Congress.
However, former TDP leader A Revanth Reddy tried to rope him in his entourage which joined the Congress, Satyanarayana Rao didn’t accept the invite as he was not given assurance of allotting party ticket, sources said.
It may be noted here that Congress has a well-established leader in former MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy from Bhupalpally. Speaking to media people , Satyanarayana Rao said: “I have no option but to follow the voice of my followers and party cadres.
Kondam Madhusudhan Reddy also confirmed his switchover to TRS along with his followers. Both the leaders are said to be mobilising their cadres in large numbers when they join the TRS on Wednesday.
