The EC has announced the schedule for the Rajya sabha polls for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Two vacancies to be filled from Telangana and four from Andhra Pradesh. The date is fixed for June 11th. The nomination process will take place from May24th.
The election may be unanimous from Telangana since the TRS has 81 MLAs after the merger of BSP, TDP and YSRCP. The TRS is certain to bag both the seats. So far as AP is concerned, the strength of TDP and BJP is 106 which includes two independent candidates, so three seats may be bagged by the these parties.
YSRCP has 67 MLAs so it can win the remaining one seat. TDP plans to eliminate YSRCP completely in the Rajya Sabha elections. However it all depends on Mr. Naidu to decide whether to field a fifth candidate or not.
