Army takes up the rescue operations in flood affected areas

Indian Army has been deployed for possible rescue operations in Telangana state. India Meteorological Department predicted that heavy rains continued for the next five days.

The government has also declared a two-day holiday for all educational institutions while IT companies were urged to provide a work from home option to the employees. Army has sought for rescue work in several areas like Alwal, Nizampet and Begumpet where overflowing water bodies and open drains have inundated residential areas.

The TRS government has appointed three GHMC officers to guide the rescue operations which is take up by the Indian Army. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who is in Delhi tour, reviewed the situations over phone by speaking to Municipal Administration and Development Minister KT Rama Rao and top officials. Chief Minister directed ministers, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives to be available to citizens round the clock. KTR has been monitoring situation from GHMC office and visited the Hussein Sagar, which is reached to the danger level by over inflow of floodwater.

The district administration identified key mandals likely to be severely inundated in case excess water is released from the lake. The officials have been sending the people from the mandals like Khairatabad, Himayathnagar, Musheerabad and Shaikpet near the water body. On the other side, government hospitals in the state have been alerted by health department to take up the precautionary actions for not spreading the communicable diseases due to the floods in the state.

Telangana  opposition party, Congress has strongly takes on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s Delhi tour while the state capital lash out with continuous rains.  T-Congress senior leader Shabbir Ali criticized that KCR is more interested in increasing his party’s Assembly seats rather than the problems of rain-affected people of Hyderabad. Shabbir Ali also also criticized Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao for blaming the Congress government for the flood situation in the city.
