Telangana Congress senior leader, former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy has said that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao had absolutely no role in the passage of Telangana bill in Parliament. Jaipal Reddy has disclosed in a big debate with his former colleague Vundavalli Arun Kumar on a Telugu news channel.

Jaipal Reddy further said in the debate that KCR has played a big role in the state agitation, but he was not aware how the Bill was passed in Lok Sabha on February 18, 2014. Jaipal revealed that both Speaker Meira Kumar and then Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath played a crucial role in passing the bill. It would not have passed if they had expressed helplessness due to the disordered situation in the House.

Jaipal further added that It was him  who had convinced the Speaker to use her extraordinary powers under Article 367 (3) by rejecting voting and get the bill passed through head count and voice vote. The Speaker agreed with me and after consulting her Secretariat staff, she got the bill passed using that article,” he said.
