Ravi Prakash filed a PIL challenging action of MMRDA in relation to a tender for Thane Borivali Tunnel Project awarded to Megha Engineering.
In response, Megha filed a Petition seeking dismissal of PIL and initiation of Contempt Proceedings against Ravi Prakash for making egregious allegations on the Judiciary. In his tweet after date of hearing was fixed, Ravi Prakash said, while considering his PIL, will the judiciary hold its ground of crumble to celebrity cadre and unholy money trails.
Megha also alleged that Ravi Prakash has suppressed the pending litigation between it and Ravi Prakash before National Company law Tribunal where the Court held that Ravi Prakash had siphoned off funds in TV 9. Ravi Prakash has also suppressed other Civil and Criminal Cases relating to the defamatory content published by Ravi Prakash and his media outlets. Megha also alleged that the Petition is filed with oblique motive as a counter blast to the pending cases where Megha has obtained several orders in its favour.
The Division Bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Mr. Alok Aradhe and Smt. Justice Bharati Dangre was hearing on Thursday. Before the senior counsel Mr Prashant Bhushan, appearing for Ravi Prakash, began his argument, the Solicitor General of India Mr. Tushar Mehta, appearing for Respondent MMRDA, and former Attorney General of India, Mr. Mukul Rohatgi, appearing Megha, raised strong objections on the maintainability of the PIL and questioned the locus of the petitioner. Both alleged that the petitioner has committed gross contempt of the court by his actions.
The Solicitor General also said that MMRDA has nothing to hide and are ready to make submissions on merits but given the nature of allegations made on the Judiciary by the Petitioner, contempt proceedings should be initiated and the PIL should be dismissed on this sole ground.
The court directed Ravi Prakash to file a response to the dismissal application first. The Court has also made it clear that it shall first take up the dismissal and contempt Application and not the main PIL filed by Ravi Prakash.
Pradeep Maddali who made his directorial debut with Sathya Dev headlined thriller ’47 Days’ has directed a web series ‘Sarvam Sakthi Mayam’ which is streaming now in Telugu and Tamil languages on aHa while it’s Hindi version is streaming on ZEE 5. BVS Ravi is the creator of the show along with providing the story and Pradeep Maddali has directed it. The 10 episode series which is currently streaming on aHa explores about Shakti Peethas and significance of Hinduism. ‘Sarvam Sakthi Mayam’ which started streaming from Dussehra has received tremendous response in OTT space. On this occasion Director Pradeep Maddali has shared his happiness and experiences about the series.
How did you come this far? What is your background?
I am from Rajahmundry. I completed my engineering there and worked as team lead for five years in IT at CSC. Then I met Ram Gopal Varma garu and Puri Jagannadh garu. I worked for five years with Puri garu. With ’47 Days’ I became a director.
Didn’t you felt risk while taking up a huge span project like ‘Sarvam Sakthi Mayam’ as your second project? How did you handled it?
It is a greta responsibility handling such kind of subject. I know BVS Ravi garu very well. We used to meet to discuss various subjects. BVS Ravi garu is the creator and writer for ‘Sarvam Sakthi Mayam’. When he narrated me this idea, I liked it instantly. I felt that this is a great opportunity and agreed to do it.
How did you feel when Ravi garu chose you for such a big project?
Ravi garu knows very well about me. He knows about my strengths since the days I was working with Puri garu in direction department. Meanwhile we discussed a lot of projects. Whenever he narrated me an idea, I revert back with versions to it. That’s why he believed in me about handling this project.
What is the similarity you observed in Ram Gopal Varma garu, Puri Garu, Ravi Garu?
They individually has their own way of executing things. But, the common quality they share is that they all are rebellious in their own ways.
What is the best thing you have learnt from Puri garu ?
Puri garu is a perfect gentleman. Its amazing how he see success and failure. He is always the same be it with the hero of the film and lightboy, his behaviour remains constant. I have learned a lot of such life lessons from him.
Many creative persons worked for this project. How did you travel with them ?
It went with the flow. BVS Ravi Garu and Project Head Hemanth Madhukar Garu working on this subject from a longtime. Due to some unavoidable reasons the project didn’t got materialized. Then I joined the project. Project scale is very big. We shot it in 58 days. Though it has less number of working days, travelling, rekki of locations took time. Because of all these people we were able to pull it off as per our plan.
To do such kind of spiritual subject, one must be in that path. How much spiritual you are?
I came from an orthodox family. My mother spends most of her time in performing poojas. Initially I too was like that. But, after I started travelling with RGV garu and Puri garu, I moved away from them. Once I started my own trials to become a director I need to go to my roots. Then I took a spiritual path. I practiced meditation, Kriya Yoga and Suddha Yoga and observed the energy behind them. Along with our efforts we must need a power, energy beside us to accomplish a task. While I was in this phase, I got this offer from Ravi garu. This change in me might be the reason behind Ravi gari decision to opt for me as the director of this project.
It is very hard to execute such subjects. How did you handle it?
Luckily we got actors with amazing talent, Priyamani garu, Sanjay Suri garu, Sameer Soni garu, Aslesha Thakur… everyone is an amazing actor. My work became easy handling such matured actors.
While handling projects with spiritual aspects, some times miracles happen while making. Any such incidents?
We planned the first schedule during peek summer. We made a schedule of 18-20 days starting from Orissa to Kashmir. It went very smooth without any obstacle. Entire film completed without any kind of issues. I feel it’s a miracle. We must appreciate our producers Vijay Garu, Ankith Garu and Kaumudi garu for their relentless support. This not OTT commissioned project. We executed it as an independent project and after completion we approached OTT’s. This is a big miracle.
Most of the cast has Hindi actors? Why did you opted for Bollywood actors?
We made this as a Hindi project to get it a wide reach. That’s why we went for a Bollywood casting. We balanced it with Priyamani Garu. Her choice is also according to the story.
There is a risk in doing such sensitive subjects. While making a project about Shakti Peethas even a small miscommunication leads to many comments and controversies. What kind of precautions did you take to prevent them?
Basically the research for this project has been carried out meticulously. Ravi Garu, Sira Sri Garu and myself indulged in many discussions in finalising the script. It came out logically and reasoningly well on the paper itself. We didnt find any such controversial issues.
These Sakthi Peethas are said to be the places where Ammavaari body parts fell off. Is there any proofs for this in Vedas and mythology?
We told the story about Ammavari Sakthi Peethalu. While Daksha Yagnam was being performed, Sathi Devi’s father didn’t invited Lord Shiva. Knowing this angry Sati Devi offered herself to fire. Then to cool down lord Shiva, lord Sree Mahavishnu has severed her body parts with his sudarshana chakra and wherever her body parts fell down, those places became Shakti Peethas. Writer Thota Prasad garu told me that Ashtadasa Sakthi Peethas are most powerful places. Along with her body parts, her blood flowed on this land which made this land a powerful and great place. That is why our Bharat is considered as pristine land.
How is the response for Telugu, Tamil versions in aHa and Hindi version in ZEE5?
Hindi version was released on ZEE 5 in June. It garnered Terrific response. It got released in Telugu and Tamil versions on aHa on 20th October. I am getting messages of appreciation from all over the country. I am very happy to see such a positive and warm response from the viewers. As this is not a regular crime, thriller series, it will take time to grow more on audience. Everyone will talk about this more and more in the upcoming days. Tell us about your future project?
I am doing my next in Ram Talluri gari SRT Entertainment banner. It will be a prestigious web series. Details will be announced very soon.
The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) is the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation project that lifts a river to a height of over 600 meters from Medigadda the inception of the point of the KLIP at 100 meters. Medigadda Lakhsmi Barrage and its pump house at Kannepalli are among many such structures in the KLIP.
The length of the Lakshmi Barrage built by contracting firm L&T is 1.632 Km. It has 85 gates each with a size of 15 meters x 12 meters weighing over 215 tonnes each. The barrage has a storage capacity of 16.17 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) and can withstand a maximum flood discharge of 80,000 cumecs.
The inauguration of the Lakshmi Barrage took place in 2019, with the presence of the then Chief Ministers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The Lakshmi barrage is strategically positioned just downstream from the confluence of the Pranahitha River. This juncture called ‘Sangamam” ensures a minimum assured flow of 300 (TMC) of water. The KLIP is designed to facilitate the lifting of 160 TMC of water annually, at the rate of 2 TMC per day with a provision to lift an additional TMC.
Parvathi, Saraswathi, and Lakshmi are the newly constructed barrages, each with a daily water lifting capacity of two TMC. Unfortunately, the Lakshmi Barrage is currently in a state of disrepair, and water lifting from this particular barrage is temporarily halted.
Addressing this issue requires the involvement of expert committees and the Central Water Commission (CWC), all of which fall within the purview of L&T, the project’s operator. Since L&T is responsible for operations and maintenance (O&M), they will be responsible for devising and implementing the necessary remedial measures. Meanwhile, the other pumphouses will continue their operations uninterrupted.
If the river Godavari does not experience floods and relies solely on Pranahitha water, the impact of damage to this barrage would be very significant. Conversely, when the past two years witnessed increased Godavari floods with no dependence on Pranahitha water, the extent of this loss would be comparatively minimal.
Highlights of Lakshmi Barrage and KLIP • The barrage will irrigate thousands of hectares of land and provide water to millions including the citizens of Hyderabad.
• The barrage is equipped with 85 hydromechanical radial gates fixed between the gigantic concrete piers
The construction involved concrete used that was equivalent to building 7 Burj Khalifas, the steel used equivalent to building 15 Eiffel Towers, and earth excavated for 6 pyramids of Giza.
The team set a world record by pouring 25,584 cum concrete in 72 hours.
Pranahita is itself a convergence of numerous smaller tributaries including the Wardha, Painganga, and Wainganga rivers which combine to form the seventh-largest drainage basin on the subcontinent, with an estimated annual discharge of more than 6,427,900 acre-feet (7,930 cubic hectometres) or 280 TMC. It remains untapped as its course is principally through dense forests and other ecologically sensitive zones such as wildlife sanctuaries. • The KLIP is divided into 7 links and 28 packages spanning a distance of approximately 500 km (310 mi) through 13 districts and utilizing a canal network of more than 1,800 km (1,100 mi). • The project aims to produce a total of 240 TMC (195 from Medigadda Barrage, 20 from Sripada Yellampalli project and 25 from groundwater), of which 169 has been allocated for irrigation, 30 for Hyderabad municipal water, 16 for miscellaneous industrial uses and 10 for drinking water in nearby villages, with the remainder being estimated evaporation loss. • The project aims at increasing the total culturable command area (the sustainable area that can be irrigated after accounting for both upstream and downstream factors) by 1,825,000 acre⋅ft (2,251 hm3) across all 13 districts in addition to stabilizing the existing CCA. • The National Green Tribunal declared the Scheme was constructed without following the statuary provisions about environmental aspects.
Four major pumping facilities manage the project’s outflow, the largest at Ramadugu (Medaram, Annaram and Sundilla being the others) is also likely to be the largest in Asia once consistent measurements are available, requiring seven 140 MWh (500 GJ) pumps designed and manufactured specifically for the project by the BHEL. • The Engineering giant Megha Engineering (MEIL) and Infrastructures Limited built 15 of 22 Pump houses and undertook a major part of the project.
Aashray Mathai, a high school student at Oakridge International School, Bachupally, founder of MPowered organisation, has been busy creating an army of young Cyber Safety Warriors in Hyderabad.
The post-Covid exponential rise in use of the internet, social platforms, online games and different applications has created huge opportunities for human traffickers. They create fake websites, gaming applications, social networking sites, lottery or job advertisements on different portals, etc. which are used to lure and trap youth and children. According to Crime in India Report 2020, 88% of victims of human trafficking in India were women and children, with children constituting 47% of the total.
While spending time with underprivileged kids over the past two years, teaching them foundational skills, Aashray realised that with increased usage of mobiles after the pandemic, the young ones and their families were at a great risk, and that the key to combating this growing threat is through awareness.
Aashray Mathai researched and designed a kid-friendly Best Practices presentation to educate these children about cyber safety. After many successful awareness and poster creation sessions outlining important safety rules in various slums, he is confident the kids and their families are now safer online.
Taking it a step further, Aashray Mathai’s MPowered organisation has teamed up with the Cybercrime and Women’s safety wing of the Cyberabad Police, and organised awareness sessions at the Rao’s chain of schools around Hyderabad.
Explaining the various dangers in the cyberworld, Aashray conducted highly engaging Q&A symposia giving kids various scenarios of cybercrimes and asking how they would react, and explaining best practices to stay safe in the online world. He then appointed thought leaders amongst them as Cyber Safety Warriors, incharge of having similar discussions with the rest of the grades and also in their neighbourhoods. The Warriors are extremely eager and enthused to carry out this important role.
Aashray Mathai plans to continue these sessions in various segments of society to create a safer cyber world for all around us.

Blockbuster maker Boyapati Sreenu and Ustaad Ram Pothineni’s much-awaited project #BoyapatiRAPO had its first thunder blasted today, on the special occasion of the star Ram’s birthday.
