MEIL begins Polavaram spillway works

The works on AP’s dream project – the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project, are going full-throttle.  The YSRCP government, which has gone in for reverse tendering process to eliminate irregularities and financial misdemeanors, has allocated the works on the prestigious project to the Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL). The works have begun in the right earnest from November 1 with a formal Bhoomi Pooja at the project spillway.

From Thursday, the works have picked pace in the spillway. On Day 1, concrete works in 100 cubic meters area would be completed. The per day target is of the order of 2000 cubic meters. The AP irrigation department too has prepared plans to complete the project work as per schedule. As part of it 1.50 crore cubic metres of work would be completed at the Rockfill Dam site by June 21. The Spillway works would be completed by June 2020.

If the works go as per schedule, water would be stored in the Polavaram project by 2020 end. The MEIL too is racing against time to ensure that the works go as per plan.

It may be recalled here that Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy cancelled the contracts and resorted to reverse tendering for Polavaram headworks and hydropower station. In this process, MEIL came forward to take up the works with a 12.6 per cent less amount, i.e., Rs. 4358 crores. With this, the state government saved Rs 628 crores to the exchequer. The state government invited the bid for Rs 4987 crores. MEIL is the sole bidder for the project in the reverse tendering process. MEIL is pooling all its capabilities to complete this multi-purpose project before the deadline.

And now, putting an end to several speculations of the other female leads, the team has made it official that British actress Olivia Morris will play the female lead opposite NTR in the film.

In yet another interesting development, the team has roped in actors Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson to play lead antagonists in the film.

Alison is an Irish actress who has been part of films like A View To Kill and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade while Ray Stevenson has appeared in Thor and King Arthur amidst several other popular TV shows.

Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, the film is produced by D.V.V. Danayya on DVV Entertainment banner. All set to hit the screens in 2020, the movie is going to have a theatrical release in 10 Languages.

Starring Uday Shankar and Aishwarya Rajesh in lead roles, MisMatch is gearing up for release on December 6th. Adhiroh creative science LLP bankrolled the film. The trailer of the film was unveiled by ace filmmaker Surender Reddy.

The writer of the film, Bhupathi Raja said MisMatch has an interesting subject and will attract family audience.

The music director Gifton said the audio album is a really good one and it has feel-good songs.

The director, Nirmal said this is his first film and hopes the audience will like the film’s theme and content.

The producer sreeram raaju  thanked Surender Reddy for releasing the trailer. He thanked the technicians for the brilliant efforts.

The male lead, Uday said the film has enough emotions and gripping elements to keep the viewers engaged all the way through.

Director Surender Reddy said the lead actor, Uday acted well in the film and wished the entire team all the very best for the film. “I hope the film becomes a huge hit,” he said.

Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja for his 66th film will be teaming up with blockbuster director Gopichand Malineni. This is the third film in their combination after the blockbusters Don Seenu and Balupu.

The film #RT66 that has been launched grandly today with formal pooja ceremony is titled as Krack. The title sound powerful and depicts Ravi Teja’s character in the film.

In the title announcement poster, Ravi Teja who is undergoing a new makeover for the film looks ferocious. He plays a tough cop in the film touted to be an action thriller.

The opening ceremony of Krack has been attended by several guests such as Dil Raju, Suresh Babu, NV Prasad, Surendra Reddy, Raghavendra Rao, Allu Aravind, Sudhakar Reddy, Naveen of Mythri Movie Makers, Parachuri Brothers, Dhamu, Bogavalli Prasad and Ram Talluri.

While speaking on the occasion, Gopichand Malineni said, “I really thank all the guests for attending Krack opening event. Surender Reddy and Dil Raju have handed over the script. For the Muhurtham shot on Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan, Allu Aravind clapped the sound board, while Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao has switched on the camera and K Raghavendra Rao did honorary direction. Krack is based on true incidents in Telugu states. It’s an intense story and will have elements for all sections. The film will start rolling from this month. We are planning to release the film in summer, next year.”

Shruti Haasan will romance Ravi Teja in the film for which S Thaman is rendering tunes. B Madhu will produce the film under Saraswathi Films Division Banner. Tamil actors Samuthirakani and Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar are roped in for powerful roles.

Hyderabad based infrastructure major, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL)-Hydrocarbon division is expanding the city gas distribution with a very ambitious plan. Megha Gas already supplying PNG and CNG to the various customers and planning expand the operations aggressively. MEIL bagged the project approvals from Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to distribute natural gas in 16 districts in AP, Telangana and Karnataka. MEIL has established a network for distribution of natural gas, under the brand name “Megha Gas”, to domestic, commercial, industrial and automobile sectors. Megha gas already began its operations in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, and Tumkur and Belgaum districts in Karnataka. It is also planning to begin the operations in 13 districts in Telangana including Greater Hyderabad sub-urban areas.

The 5000 km pipeline
Megha Gas has laid a pipeline of 1200 km length. In the future, MEIL is planning to lay pipelines of about 5000 Kms in AP, Telangana, & Karnataka. While explaining the plan Mr P. Rajesh Reddy, Vice- President, MEIL said that “The nature of business is mainly divided into Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). PNG, the gas which is directly supplied to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers through the pipeline. CNG is used by the transportation sector. In Telangana, Megha Gas planning to start its operations very soon in Bhadradhri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Janagoan, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mahaboobabad, Medchal, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri districts. About 12 kilometers of pipeline is already laid in Yadadri and Warangal rural districts. In next three months it we would like expand the pipeline network and planning begin the operations as soon as possible”

With a view to developing Gas Grid Networks in AP & Telangana, MEIL has strategically secured Onshore Gas fields from ONGC in the regions of Nagayalanka and West Penugonda. Gas evacuation from these fields will account to around 1,30,000 SCM per day. For this purpose, MEIL had installed mechanical refrigeration units procured from the USA, compressors, & other mechanical packages. Mr. Reddy revealed that “MEIL has already commissioned the Nagayalanka Field and currently supplying Natural Gas to PNG customers in and around Krishna District. Also, MEIL is sourcing natural gas from various sources through GAIL in the range of the 40,000 SCM per day.”

An Aggressive Plan for Telugu States
MEIL has opened 9 CNG stations in Krishna district with the total sale in excess of 4,50,000 SCM (Standard Cubic Meter) per month with additional 5 stations planned in the next 3 months with a potential of 3,00,000 SCM per month.

Megha Gas has a registered customer base of over 13,000 domestic consumers till date and are expected to add 2,000 more domestic connections by this month-end in the district. At present, commercial sales have crossed 60,000 SCM per month. MEIL is expected to add 10 more commercial connections with a potential of 1,00,000 SCM per month soon

Karnataka: The Dark Horse
The response to piped natural gas for domestic, commercial and industrial customers is overwhelming in Karnataka. Both the districts have seen unexpected demand. Currently, in Tumkur, Megha gas has registered over 12,500 domestic connections and is expected to add 4,000 connections by next month. The demand from the Commercial segment has crossed 1,40,000 SCM per month and is expected to double soon. In Belgaum district too, the registered customer base crossed 15,000 mark with over 2,500 domestic customers in the pipeline. The commercial sales have crossed 2,10,000 SCM per month with a further potential of 3,00,000 SCM per month in the near future. Megha gas is planning to open four stations in the two districts. To encourage the use of natural gas in industries, the company is planning to offer comprehensive and attractive packages requiring little initial investment by the consumer with the facility to repay the capital expenditure subsequently through easy instalments.
