Clap, the most challenging project of promising hero Aadhi Pinisetty, is getting ready for its theatrical release. The film’s promotions kick-start with teaser launch. The one and only Megastar Chiranjeevi has launched the teaser.

“I have launched teaser of Telugu, Tamil bilingual film Clap today. Son of my friend and director Ravi Raja Pinisetty, Aadhi Pinisetty is a versatile actor and he’s like a family member. Ramanjaneyulu, Karthikeyan and Rajasekhar Reddy are producing this bilingual film. And Aakanksha Singh is the heroine. Young director Prithivi Adithya is helming it. The advantage with young directors is they put in all the efforts, showcase their talents and come up with new ideas. Taking a sports backdrop for the film is a wonderful idea. Clap seems to be a film based on the atheletics. Aadhi has played a challenging role and there seems to be a twist to this character. I felt wow when I saw it. I’m also looking forward to watch the movie that has music by Maestro Ilayaraja. I wish Aadhi and Prithivi all the best. I wish all the very best to the entire cast and crew of the film. I hope, the film will become a huge success” said Chiranjeevi, after launching the teaser.

Coming to teaser, it’s the stimulating story of a young sprinter who is very aggressive in nature. He doesn’t get much support to fulfill his big dreams. He has a girlfriend Akanksha Singh who is a hockey player. The actual twist arrives in the end. The teaser looks promising with Aadhi’s exceptional show as an athlete, Prithivi Adithya’s brilliant writing and taking, Praveen Kumar’s impressive camera work and maestro Ilayaraja’s heart-touching BGM.

Lifting A River: The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme
Lifting A River: The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme

The untold story of one of the biggest mega-builds ever to be undertaken in India or the world. Telangana’s prestigious and multi staged Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) has got very great applauds from all the sections and regions. This renowned project was documented by popular science & technology channel Discovery Channel by the title “Lifting A River”, will be telecast on 25th of June, at 8 PM. Filmed for nearly 3 years, ‘Lifting A River’ captures every phase of the Kaleshwaram Project MEGA-BUILD: from the mammoth scale of construction to the intimate precision of science & engineering.

This documentary was done by made by award winning documentary filmmaker Kondapalli Rajendra Srivathsa of Pulse Media. His films shed light on fascinating worlds spanning science & technology, art & culture, social messaging & human interest stories. He is from Hyderabad, a Telugu spoken person, living in Delhi for past 30 years. He received many prestigious awards for his works. His films have been nominated for and received the Asian Television Award, Singapore (2010, 2012,), the Indian Telly Awards (2012, 2016), Indian Television Academy Award (2018).

On the telecast of “Lifting A River” documentary Rajendra said, “The Godavari flows through Telangana in southern India and remains the mainstay of communities in the region, who rely on it for irrigating their fields, drinking water and more. But for decades, due to both natural & manmade reasons, the river has failed to fulfil these ever-growing needs. The film chronicles the awe-inspiring undertaking of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, spanning hundreds of kilometers across 13 districts of Telangana, going as deep into the earth; emerging back to the surface, lifting the full monsoonal weight of the mighty Godavari. This is a story of huge construction, gigantic machines and the wonders of technology. It is also a film about the triumph of the human spirit, perseverance in the face of towering challenges and the sheer determination of thousands of workers, engineers, dreamers and doers who made the Kaleshwaram Project come to life.”

Kaleshwaram Lift Irringation Project was Telangana Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao’s dream project, for which he made all efforts with his engineering and construction team a great success. This project is Pride of Telangana people. Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) with its world best engineering system has been involved in the Kaleshwaram Project construction.

Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, gigantic multi staged project, is a unique very of its kind. This type of project was never built anywhere in the world. This project is unique because for this the path of Godavari was diverted. The speciality of project is water is lifted to upper areas with gigantic pumping machines at multilevel stages, at 600 meters above sea level.
The success of constructing was mainly because of CM KCR’s initiative and self interest for the service of Telangana people. In the process of project construction there was no land acquisition problem. Godavari water of such a large extent was stored into reservoirs and lifted with pumping and at the same time with available main drainage system connect to the already completed other reservoirs, canals and ponds for storage and supply. This resulted hugely reduction of cost of construction and did not become big burden on Telangana government.

Goli Santhosh Reddy, who coordinated along with Kondapalli Rajendra Srivathsa during the documenting this film said “I started my journey as a freelance cameraman for various Entertainment and News channels. Later, I got an opportunity to work for several documentaries for Al-Jazeera London, the State & the Central government organizations, NGOs and for programs related to Rajyasabha TV. Being in the field of media, corporate & Ad film making industry, as a Director of Photography I have had the privilege to work for some of the prestigious documentaries with finest craftsmen like Mr. Rajendra Kondapalli. Our association started with a film that we did for National Geographic Channel. Now it is an honour to be a part of the documentary made on the magnificent Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, again with Rajendra Kondapalli. It is an amazing feeling to have witnessed every step of the building of this Mega project and I will cherish this exceptional milestone forever. It is a proud moment for all the Telugu people!”

In Kaleshwaram Project, MEIL constructed 15 gigantic pumping stations. At very short time for all the units MEIL installed total 104 international standard quality pumping machines. The project is so large that it has a total pumping capacity of 5159 MW, of which MEIL has set up 4439 MW pumping stations, which is not built anywhere in the world.

Under Package-8, at the Gayatri underground Pumping Station in, 7 units were commissioned to pump 2 TMCs of water per day. The capacity of each unit is 139 MW, which is massive and not found anywhere else in the world. This plant has a pumping capacity of 973 MW.

In Medigadda Lakshmi pumping station 17 machines have been set up, at Annaram (Saraswati) 12, 14 at Sundilla Parvati and at Gayatri Underground Pumping Center 7 machines are installed. 4 in Annapurna, 4 in Ranganayakasagar and another 2 unites in Akkaram and Markuklo pump house have been set up as part of the Kondapochamma package. Mallannasagar Reservoir, which is a part of Kaleswaram project, has a storage capacity of 52 TMC. 18 machines installed pumping station-8.

Inauguration of Godavari Water Diversion in Polavaram Project

Inauguration of Godavari Water Diversion in Polavaram Project
Inauguration of Godavari Water Diversion in Polavaram Project

• Water released over the spillway to Delta Region
• 6.6 KM Godavari flow diversion, which is a record
• Mega project completed in minimum time at maximum level

World’s biggest multi-purpose irrigation project Polavaram Project receives its first fruit of success. On Friday, 11 June 2021, process of discharging water from Polavaram project to Godavari Delta region for the first time started.

Department of Water Resource and MEIL officials performed Pooja at Polavaram on the occasion of Godavari water diversion through approach channel to spillway. Water Resources Department ENC Narayana Reddy, Polavaram CE Sudhakar Babu, SE Narasimha Murthy, Executive Engineers Mallikarjuna Rao, Adireddy, Balakrishna, MEIL Vice President Ranga Rajan, General Manager Muddukrishna Dev Mani Mishra, CGM Ravindra Reddy, AGM Rajesh, DGM Shyamala Rao, Manager Murali were present at the occasion.

As part of the project construction, the Upper Coffer Dam for the construction of the Earth Cum Rock Fill dam (ECRF) will be completed and water will be released over the spillway. Releasing water from the Godavari to the Approach Canal, the water will reach the Dhavaleswaram Cotton Barrage through the spillway and river sluice gates and from there through the Central Delta as well as the entire Godavari Delta through the eastern and western canals. The water that naturally flows into the Godavari reaches the delta from the barrage. Once the Polavaram project is completed, water will released through spillway, river sluice and power house discharges to the canals. Polavaram seems to be getting its first result as water is now reaching the Godavari delta while the project is under construction.

Along with the spillway three gaps (ECRF 1,2,3), hydropower plant and water transport works are crucial in the construction of Polavaram. In this, Megha Engineering completed the work of Spillway on brisk pace following engineering regulations, work manual, protocol. The approach channel, spillway gates, spill channel and pilot channel are almost complete to divert the flood this season itself. Due to the construction of the Upper Coffer Dam the flow of the Godavari River was completed. As a result, water from above stopped flowing and the availability of water to the Godavari Delta stopped. Under these conditions Godavari water started discharging downstream from the approach channel.

Along with East & West Godavari districts, Tadipudi, Pattissima, Pushkaram lift irrigation projects water will be received through this approach channel from now on through the diversion schemes for drinking and cultivating. Until recently, water flowed to them through the natural flow of the river.

Godavari river naturally flows from June to December. Usually in the months of August, September and October large-scale floods occur. Although there is no flood flow in the summer, the water released from the Sealeru and Machkand hydropower plants reaches the delta in minimal quantities. From now on, the water will be diverted through the approach channel throughout the year and again into the Godavari through the pilot channel.

After the construction of Upper Coffer Dam the water level in Godavari is naturally rising (upwards). This brings water to the low area villages. The government has already rehabilitated those villages. In the month of July Godavari gets flooded. But, this year heavy rains are expected earlier in the Sabari catchment area, which is considered a major tributary of the Godavari. Already monsoons have entered the country and are actively spreading. Under these conditions, heavy rains are expected along with Chhattisgarh and Orissa, especially in the Sabari and Pamuleru catchment areas. If this happens the water should be diverted over the spillway. In the event of a major flood, water should be diverted into the Godavari through the Approach Channel, River Sewage and Pilot Channel for the needs of the Godavari Delta, drinking water of both the Godavari districts and discharge of water to the Krishna Strategy through Pattisseema. This is inevitable to avoid the water problem facing the Godavari Delta Strategy in Kharif. By removing the temporary bund at the beginning of the approach channel to the Godavari River, on the right side a 6.6 KM diversion was constructed for the flow of river.

By lifting Radial gates heavy flood water will be released to the bottom and thus the water released from the spillway into the spill channel joins the Godavari natural flow back through the pilot channel.

As per the instructions and suggestions of Jaganmohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and with coordination of Water Resourced Department officials MEIL has increased pace in the construction work. For completion of work in the stipulated time, the upper coffer dam must be completed earlier and the Godavari flow is released into the spillway channel through the approach channel and re-incorporated into the natural Godavari flow through the Pilot Channel. This diversion of river will make possible for the construction of Earth Cum Rock Fill Dam works in Gap – 2. This is the main reason why MEIL has speed up the construction of Upper and Lower Coffer Dams.

River Diversion of 6.6 KM is rare achievement in engineering field
Diversion of Godavari river for 6.6 KM is completed. This is engineering great and rare achievement. Godavari is the second largest river in India. It runs across from the Western Ghats to Eastern Ghats and owes its greatness for its sanctity, picturesque scenery and utility to man. In the peak time floods it receives on average of 35 lakh to 50 lakh cusecs of water flow. And diverting this gigantic river is not an easy task. Natural flowing Godavari is diverted to the right side of project, from approach channel to the pilot channel. This flow will continue even after completion of the project. Gap 1, 2, 3 are constructed in the middle of the river. In this Earch Cum Rock Fill Dam, which is known as Gap – 2 is the largest. It is constructed to hold even of 50 lakh cusecs water pressure and for this construction water flow must be stopped. In this situation Andhra Pradesh Government decided to build the Upper Coffer dam to withstand water flow and continue the construction of the Earth Come Rock Fill Dam in the view of floods in this year also. River diversion was constructed in this part only.
Total length of this river diversion, i.e. approach channel, spill channel and pilot channel is 6.6 KM. These are built parallel on the right side of the Godavari. Approach channel was built up to 2.4 km towards the spillway. Spill channel is 3.1 km from the spillway and the pilot channel is 1.1 km from the end of the spill channel to meet the Godavari again into its natural flow. Upper coffer dam is 2480 m long and 42.5 m high with three ridges. As per the government decision MEIL recently buried gaps in Upper Coffer Dam. This made possible to continue construction of project without any hindrance, even if there is a flood up to 30 lakh cusecs, as the flow in the river passes through the approach channel.

Record level works in very short time
MEIL completed Godavari river diversion work in record time. For this digging was done to required level to reach the spillway again to the right of the Godavari stream. For this, the approach channel was excavated to the extent of 2.4 km. With that, a big river was formed. For this, 54 lakh 88 thousand cubic meters of earth excavation work was done and another 4 lakh 88 thousand cubic meters work has to be completed. Out of total 5.92 crore cubic meters of earth work till now 5.24 crore cubic meter work is completed. Total CC blocks (spillway) is 17 lakh cubic meter of which 15.17 lakh cubic meter work is completed. The spillway work is very crucial in this project, as it controls the flood water to the extent of 50 lakhs cusecs and release it to down through gates. Three Gorges dam, known as the largest flood discharge spillway in the world so far receives 47 lakh cusecs, whereas Polavaram receives 50 lakh cusecs of water flow. To withstand this heavy flow world’s largest gates are established. For this 15.17 cubic meters of concrete work has also been completed. . Hydraulic gates are also arranged to operate the gates. As part of this, 22 power packs were installed at 44 gates. 28 radial gates have been raised hydraulically so that 28 gates can be released in the event of a flood this season.

Till now 76.29% headworks on the project has completed. As water is diverted through approach canal villages along with Polavaram are at risk of flood water. There is no trouble till the water flow through spillway is up to one lakh cusecs. The effect will be seen after flow reaches 12 lakh cusecs. When there is a minimum flow Water reaches into 9 habitations, but when water reaches 28 meters the number of flood-prone habitats will increases. If the water reaches the full spillway (45.72 m), 235 habitations will be flooded. Accordingly, the government is preparing a plan and rehabilitating the villages.

• MEIL is delivering the tanks to AP government for free
• Tankers reached to Pangarh from Singapore in Indian Airforce Special flight
• Each tank capacity 1.40 crore litres of Oxygen
• Tanks will serve for immediate and future demand for Medical Oxygen crunch
• Cryogenic Oxygen Tanks will reach AP after filling Oxygen at Durgapur Steel Plant

MEIL which is bridging the gap between the supply and demand for medical oxygen in the fight against the pandemic by supplying free oxygen to hospitals, has now importing cryogenic oxygen tanks and delivering free to the state governments for present and future medical use.

As part of this MEIL imported 3 cryogenic oxygen tanks from Singapore and handed over to AP government. Each cryogenic tank could supply 1.40 crore litres of medical oxygen, and 4.20 crore litres from 3 tanks. On Tuesday, a Defence special flight from Singapore landed with tankers at 6 PM at Pangarh Air Force Station in West Bengal. In special vehicles tanks where moved to Durgapur Steel Factory, which is 35 KMs far from Air Force station for filling tanks with oxygen. As it was agreed oxygen produced in that steel plant is allocated to our state. After finishing the Oxygen filling these 3 tanks will be transported in rail route, and will reach Andhra Pradesh by Wednesday night or Thursday morning said P. Rajesh Reddy, MEIL Vice President.

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) imported 11 cryogenic tanks from Bangkok (Thailand) and handed over to Telangana State free of cost. The tanks that will help to increase supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to hospitals and meet the shortage of medical oxygen in hospitals to fight against Covid. With cooperation and coordination with Central and State Governments MEIL is importing tankers ahead of schedule.

3 tankers delivered to Andhra Pradesh will be able to supply 4.20 crore litres of oxygen. These cryogenic tankers are utilized by the state government to suit their needs. They bring liquid medical oxygen from the oxygen production centres allotted to our state and deliver it directly to the hospitals. At the same time these tankers are also used to supply directly to hospitals depending on their needs.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, Health Minister Alla Nani, Govt. Chief Secretary Adityanath Das and a committee with other government officials are supervising the whole operation. Keeping in view of present and further requirements of oxygen in Andhra Pradesh state MEIL is importing cryogenic tankers from Singapore.

Country has enough Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) production to meet the needs in medical services, but due to non-availability of required number of cryogenic tankers and lack of transport facilities there is gap formed to transfer oxygen from production plant to hospitals. It is also not possible to manufacture these tanks immediately and also importing is also not that easy. To manufacture one cryogenic tanker it takes nearly 3 months. To ease the situation MEIL management has taken special care for importing tankers.

MEIL is continuously producing medical oxygen in its Bollaram plant. It is supplying oxygen for free to public and private hospitals in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and adjacent states. Private and government hospitals are filling free cylinders with oxygen if needed. It is offered exclusively for the therapeutic needs of covid patients.

Each cylinder capacity is 7000 litres. On an average MEIL has supplied nearly 400 cylinders per day to at least 17 hospitals. Till now from May 9th to 31st, MEIL has supplied more than 56 thousand metric tons of liquid medical oxygen (LMO). MEIL has set up a special team to monitor supply of free oxygen and the team is working round the clock to meet the emergency services.
