Are the villains vanishing from Telugu movies? Well! The answer could be yes.

Time was when villain’s role used to be as powerful as that of the hero. He used to be winning, till the end and even at the end, he would go down fighting. Strong villains were then the order of the day. They were the epitome of evil and  evoked shrieks of fear when they entered the scene. The villains used to be ruthless and deadly. Slowly these villains turned to be comedy villains as in movies like Adhurs, Balupu etc. Their villainy bordered on comedy.
After that the phase of clever and handsome villains began. They looked good, had physique to die for and could also tickle your funny bone as in films like Julayee, Jil, Golimar etc.
But now the recent hit films don’t have a strong villain. Industry hit like Attarintiki Daaredi, starring a mass hero like Pawan Kalyan doesn’t have a strong villain who can elevate the character of the protagonist. In fact, the hero has to actually win over his aunt. Recently released S/O Satyamurthy and films like SVSC, Businessman, Temper, Kick too do not have a strong antagonist, but went on to become big hits.
Even villains like Prakash Raj and Kota Srinivasa Rao are slowly beginning to play father’s role. Where are the villains?
So are we heading towards a villain-less industry?
