Sindhu steals silver medal in Rio with 1-2 loss

Indian Badminton players, Pusarla V. Sindhu makes India laud with the performance of Women’s Single final in Rio Olympics 2016. She won the Silver medal with the loss of the final match with 1-2.  

After aggressive win of the first game, Spanish badminton player Marin Carolina made Sindhu come down with tremendous performance and Carolina won the games consecutively with 19-21, 21-12, 21-15 lead.  Sindhu won the opening game against Carolina Marin 21-19 after trailing 6-11 to stage a superb comeback.

However, Marin the world champion was too good for the Indian badminton ace and breezed through the second game 21-12 to level the match at 1-1. Despite her loss, Sindhu picked up the silver medal, becoming the only Indian woman to win a silver medal at the Olympic Games.

President of India, Pranab Mukharjee, Prime Minister, Narendhra Modi and Sports fraternity have congratulated Sindhu for her silver performance in Rio Olympics
