Be careful with female co-passengers in Delhi Metro

Be careful with female co-passengers while you travelling in Metro train.  According to Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) annual reports 91 percent of pickpockets are women in Delhi Metro.

In 2016, CISF detained a total of 479 pickpockets, out of which 438 were women. The full-year data stated that the security force conducted over 100 operations to check pick pocketing in Delhi Metros that carries an estimated the worth of Rs 26 lakh stealing every day. The huge number of women has been involved in these crimes. Recently, the CISF had disclosed a notorious gang of such women who had robbed a Non Resident Indian lady’s jewels and valuables while she was travelling in the Delhi Metro with her husband.

In order to check these crimes, the Security Force regularly undertakes special operations and deploys women and men personnel in plain-clothes to keep an eye on trouble makers. For the last few years women ratio were being topped in the total number of pickpockets arrested by the CISF in the Delhi Metro. In 2015, 93 percent of were women were involved. While in 2014 the percentage was about 94 percent.
