The chief minister of Tamilnadu miss Jayalalitha announced that prohibition of liquor would be implemented if AIADMK comes to power again. She said that the implementation cannot be done in one day, so she promised that it would be done in phases.

In a public meeting she explained that she would change the timings of liquor shops and then reduce  the number of liquor shops and after that she will take action against the bars. This is how she would implement the prohibition in phases. The  women audience responded with a big applause at the meeting. “My aim is to bring prohibition. When I first took over as Chief Minister in 1991, I banned sale of country-made liquor despite incurring a loss of Rs 400 crore…prohibition cannot be implemented in one signature. It has to be implemented in phases. When the AIADMK comes back to power, prohibition will be implemented in phases”, she said.
