Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu makes use of meeting of Apex Council for corning the counterpart of Telangana K.Chandrasekhara Rao on violation of the AP Reorganization Act, 2014.

He made a forceful argument on both the Palamuru-Rangareddy and the Dindi Lift Irrigation projects taken up by Telangana before the Apex council. He argued that the two projects were not new. Thus, he strongly argued that Telangana government had nothing to do with the then government orders issued in 2007 by the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. In the first place, only a feasibility study was ordered for the Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme with the off take point at Jurala project and not Srisailam as it is now.

Naidu bring to the notice of  Apex Council meet that Telangana Government has changed the off take point even of this to foreshore of Srisailam, Mr Naidu pointed out intervening during a technical presentation of the State’s case by Sashibhushan Kumar, Secretary, Irrigation department. The Chief Minister said according to paragraph 7 of the Eleventh Schedule and Sections 84, 85 of the Reorganisation Act, these projects should first be evaluated and technically cleared by the respective River Management Board and Central Water Commission before sanction by the Apex Council.

Telangana did not take this clearance. The two new projects had also not been listed in the paragraph 10 of the Eleventh Schedule of the Act of 2014 which consists of the projects of both the neighboring States that were still under construction. However, Naidu also cornered the Telangana government on Krishna Water Sharing.

He said KCR government has already diverting 211 TMCs water of Godavari instead of 45 TMCs from Godavari water to Krishna basin. He further urged the Apex Council to put the construction of these two projects on hold.
