Vijay Malya’s passport suspended for four week

The ministry of external affairs of the Central government has suspended the passport of Mr. Vijaya Malya for four weeks on the advice of Enforcement Directorate. If he does not respond in this period, his passport will be cancelled forever.

According to the consortium of commercial banks, he is indebted 9,432 crores of rupees by the end of February this year. Mr. Malya left for Britain on 2nd March 2016 on which date the consortium has approached the tribunal for the collection of the amount. However, Mr. Malya has proposed that he will pay Rs. 4000 crores as first instalment and the remaining amount at a later date.

This proposal has been rejected by the consortium. It is also known that he has to pay 900 crores of rupees to the IDBI bank alone, special court PMLA has issued non bailable warrant to attend the court on Friday 15 th March 2016, but Malya did not turn up.
