To encourage cash less transactions in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has came up with the idea to provide 4G enabled smart phones to the people. Chief Minister is planning to provide nearly 10 lakh smart phones for free.
Babu has already instructed the Andhra Pradesh Technology Services (APTS) to procure 10 lakh mobiles. Officials at APTS are call for the tenders asking the mobile companies to come up with quotations and built-in features for 10 lakh mobiles. Apparently, each 4G enabled Smartphone might cost around Rs.5,000 with all the required features for seamless cash transactions, ending the overall tally with a whopping Rs. 500 crores.
Needless to say, Babu’s decision received mixed response from common people and opposition parties criticizing that this is all part of political stunt for gain mileage in 2019 elections.
