On Thursday, Justice Challa Kodanda Ram of the Telangana high court posted to next week the plea of the state government to vacate the stay orders in nearly 90 petitions that challenged the poll preparatory work in scores of municipalities all over the state. He said that he would pass orders in the pending cases relating to municipal elections only after examining all relevant issues.

Justice Kodanda Ram said he would study the order of the division bench before taking any decision on the matter. At one stage, he said that he would refer the matter to the Chief Justice requesting him to verify whether all these pleas can be called as covered matters in view of the CJ bench order. The matter is expected to come up for hearing on Friday or Monday.

The government has already prepared the draft for reservations for the municipalities and after the notification release, they would hold a draw as per the ward. The municipal elections were supposed to be held in August. Petitions were filed in the High Court that there are irregularities in the voters list.
