Hyderabad: A day after he was released on bail in the cash-for-vote scam, fresh cases were registered on Thursday against TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy and other party leaders for organising a rally defying prohibitory orders and his speech against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Reddy, who is the prime accused in the cash-for-vote case, was released on bail from Cherlapalli Central Prison here yesterday.
He defied prohibitory orders by organising a rally along with TDP workers from the jail to NTR Trust Bhavan, which is TDP headquarters, DCP Rama Rajeswari said.
In his speech during the rally, Reddy allegedly said, “I will make all efforts to throw the family of KCR (Telangana Chief Minister) out of politics and work with the sole aim of bringing down KCR”.
Suo motu cases were registered by Kushaiguda and Malkajgiri police stations against Reddy for organising the rally defying prohobitory orders and his speech in which Reddy “threatened” the Telangana CM and his family members including female members of his family, a police official said.
Reddy violated prohibitory orders promulgated by the Cyberabad Police and TDP workers obstructed free flow of traffic at Moula Ali without obtaining prior permission for conducting the rally, the official said.
Cases were booked against Reddy, TDP MLAs M Gopinath, Vivekananda, Gandhi Arikapudi and TDP MP Mallareddy, besides several other TDP leaders under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), Section 506 (criminal intimidation), Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) as well as other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, he said.
On May 31, Reddy was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) along with Harry Sebastian and Uday Simha, while allegedly paying a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to Elvis Stephenson, a nominated MLA, to support TDP nominee Vem Narendar Reddy during the Telangana Legislative Council elections on June 1.
The trio, who were in jail, were granted conditional bail by Hyderabad High Court on June 30.
