TRS president and TS CM Mr. KCR nominated Sri D.Srinivas and Captain Lakshmikantha Rao for th two Rajyasabha seats. Mr. D.Srinivas was a former President of PCC. He left the congress and joined TRS. KCR made him the advisor for the interstate affairs. The post was cabinet rank.
Captain Rao was also nominated for MP seat of Rajyasabha. Captain Rao was cabinet minister in YSR government in 2014-15. He is a close relatiave of late Sri P.V.Narasimha Rao. Captain Rao is a confident of Mr.KCR. With this announcement, two candidates were nominated to Rajyasabha biennial elections from TS after the formation of the state.
Out of 119 legislatures, the strength of TRS is 82, besides seven congress MLA’s. Though the name of Devikonda Dhamodhara Rao was heard first it was rejected to accomodate a BC candidate. Md. Fareeduddin was nominated for the MLC seat vacated by Sri Thummala Nageswara Rao who was elected to MLA post
