Chief Scientist Dr. Srinagesh Davaluri, Head, Seismology Observatory, NGRI, said that the tremors were nothing to worry about. “The tremors are usual and there is nothing to worry about.
It is the sub-terrain sound coming due to the area exposed to high granite concentration,” he said. The extent was 0.5 on the Richter scale. Tremors are not new to these parts of Hyderabad.
A month ago, Borabanda had encountered upwards of 16 small scale tremors in a traverse of 13 hours. Two seismographic stations of NGRI had recorded these small scale tremors.
Seismologists credited these to hydroseismicity, a condition when rainfall variety can trigger quakes. The city got bountiful rain amid the storm and this drove an ascent in the groundwater level.
Following the October 21-22 tremors, the NGRI had introduced two more seismographs in the region. The specialists had said that the miniaturized scale seismic tremors might be experienced for half a month yet they will be under 2.0 in magnitude.
No damage to either property or to persons was reported from anywhere. Jubilee Hills and its encompassing regions had additionally recorded tremors in 1998 and 2000.
