Govt. demands Opposition leader in RS, Azad must apologies

The decision of demonetization of big notes led uproar continues in the winter sessions of Parliament. The Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad comments of comparing the deaths of soldiers in the Uri terror attack with that of people standing in queues outside banks and ATMs post demonetisation.

His comments reasoned to chaos entire session on Thursday. The government also demanded a clarification from the Congress party and its leadership on whether it stands with Azad or condemns his “anti-national” remarks. I& B minister M.Venkaiah Naidu said that he was really shocked and surprised by the remarks of Azad. Naidu further added that Azad comments were unfortunate but an insult to the nation and also of our martyrs.  

However, Azad said that we want to know the stand of the Congress as Azad has refused to budge even an inch from his remarks, which is hurting the sentiments of the people,” Naidu said.   Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar demanded an unconditional apology from Azad, saying he has gone “beyond the Laxman Rekha”.  Finance Minister Arun Jaitley dubbed Azad’s remarks as irresponsible and said that Congress as a national party must support instead of obstructing Parliament. However, Azad has said that he is not going to take back his words on demonetization of heavy notes and apologize to the government.
