The Punjab and Haryana High Court stayed the reservation for the Jats and five other communities provided by the Haryana government under a uni-carved backward classes [ C category]. The HC passed orders while hearing a petetion challenged by Murarilal Gupta of Bhiwani.
He sought a direction to crash Block ‘C’ of the act that provides reservation to the Jat community. The petetioner stated that reservation to the Jat community has been provided under the new act on the report of the Justice K.C. Gupta commission which was quashed by the SC.
The Haryana state government passed the act 2016 allowing reservation in services and admission in educational institutions unanimously. The interim order was passed by a bench headed by Justice S.S. Saron.
