A tibal man and a married woman were severelly beaten and their faces were blackened by the villagers of Khokariya in Indore who suspected the relationship between them.The couple were also tied to a pole and beaten black and blue. The couple was partially undressed and the man was forced to reveal the truth by beating on a steel plate and was beaten whenever he stopped.
According to the police, the man aged 30 and the woman 35 were in love, but the local panchayat disappoved their relation and decided to teach them a lesson.
Four policemen were suspended and twenty were arrested in this connection the IG said.
The couple was sent for medical examination and was discharged from the health centre after treatment.
