TDP demands Centre to allocate funds for VVPAT-enabled EVMs

On Monday, TDP has made demands before the Centre on Rs 2,000 currency notes abolition, allocation of funds for VVPAT- enabled electronic voting machines and set up of fast track courts for trying corruption cases.

On the last day of the TDPs three day annual conclave Mahanadu, a Political Resolution to this effect was adopted.The resolution said that the TDP was the first party to raise the demand for voter-verified paper audit trail for EVMs way back in 2009. Now, doubts are raised by many parties over the functioning of EVMs.

The Centre should immediately draft guidelines and release adequate funds for VVPAT- enabled EVMs, hence to ensure transparency and dispel any misgivings.The TDP also wanted to implement electoral and legal reforms as the economic reforms brought in by the NDA Government. The party demanded Rs 2000 note to scrapped to check corruption. It setting up of fast track courts to try corruption cases within a year.
