Three IIT students were detained by the Italian police on Monday during checking for illeagle immigrants. However they were released hours later by the intervention of the Indian mission in Rome.

The ministry of External Affairs identified one of the students as Akshit Goyal and the other two boys were Deepak Bhatt and Uday Kushupati hailing from Kurnool. They went to Italy on tour having valid passports.
