Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has given a surprise to all the women of Telangana by signing Rs 160 crore deal for Bathukamma Sarees. The Telangana state government is planning to order over 86 Lakh sarees to women from poor family.
White card holders are eligible for this. This scheme is actually double beneficial as it benefits both the weavers and the people. Because this order is to be handovered to the handloom weavers who are in a bad shape now, particularly who are in Sirsilla.
This saree gift distribution is scheduled for Bathukamma, a traditional festival of the state.
Another 5 lakh sarees order is to be given as a part of the KCR kit. It will cost around 12.5 crores. The kit includes a baby oil, Baby bed, Mosquito net, Dresses, Saris, Handbag, towels and Napkins, Powder, Diapers, Shampoo and toys for the kid.

This Bathukamma sarees and the KCR kit earns a very good welcoming response from the people of Telangana. While Opposition leaders allege that it is an “election stunt” by KCR given reports of advancement of elections (2018).
