Medaram Jatara to kick start from Today

The world famou’s biennial  Medaram Jatara, which is considered as Asia’s largest convergence of devotees, will formally kick start in Warangal district from Wednesday. The four day celebrations will begin with the adornment of the daughter of Sammakka, Saralamma on the traditional Gadde (rock) at the venue on the first day.

All elaborate arrangements have been made by the State Government for historical  Sri Sammakka Saralamma tribal bi annual Jatara to be held from February 17 to 20 at Medaram village in Warangal district.

Sammakka Saralamma Jatara or Medaram Jatara is a biannual festival, which is attended by more than one percent of Indian population. The festival is celebrated from February 17 to 20 at Medaram village in Warangal district. This is a unique tribal festival of honoring the goddesses celebrated in the State of Telangana. The festival is held once in every two years at Medaram, heart of the thick forests of Warangal district. One can feel the real presence of the Goddesses as soon as you enter the forest of Medaram. It is a little forest village with the population of 350. Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao will participate in the celebrations on February 19,2016.
