Telangana Planning to make Charminar as Iconic Site

The historic part and icon of Telangana state, Charminar, will be all cleaned up soon as part of phase-II of the Central government’s initiative Swachh Iconic Places.
Charminar, the 426-year-old Qutb Shahi monument and symbol of Hyderabad, will be created as a Swachh Iconic Site (SIS) and will soon get a makeover. The entire feel of Charminar is set for a makeover, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) magistrate B Janardhan Reddy told to media from Delhi on Tuesday.
A total of 100 iconic places across the country are set to be spruced up under the programme, the ongoing phase-I of which sees the cleanup of Taj Mahal in Agra and Golden Temple in Amritsar among other icons.
The choice was taken at a national interview on Swachh Bharat Mission in Delhi. . The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will tie up with GHMC for the venture to tidy up the surroundings of Charminar. Better lighting will be given at the icon of hyderabad which draws in of thousands of guests consistently.
Money related and specialized help will be given by NTPC. Every single notorious site have been assigned PSUs for help.  No particular sum has been chosen yet.
We will draw up an arrangement that will convey eminence to the munument, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) magistrate B Janardhan Reddy said.
It was reported in April this year that Charminar would be one of the Swachh Iconic Sites to be produced in stage 2. In the principal stage, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited were named sponsors to create Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
The target of the national conference was to survey the work done in stage 1 sites and build up an action plan for the 10 new locales in stage 2. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation magistrate B Janardhan Reddy said under the program, the arrangement was to concentrate on giving clean environs at 100 locales the nation over.
