Generally a new born weighs between 2.5 to 3.5 kgs and in rare cases about 4 kgs, but surprisingly a new baby girl weighing 6.8kgs at birth, at the district hospital in Hassan in Karnataka. This is a new record in the country.
The baby was born to a young couple Mr.Arun aged 23 and Mrs.Nandini aged 19. The birth of the baby surprised the doctors who now want to do research into the circumstances that could have lead to the heavy weight of the baby.
